Western Pennsylvania Regional Amateur Wine Making Competition

COMPETITION RULES

1. Only wines made by AWS members of the surrounding chapters of the AWS are eligible for entry. Wines that have previously won awards in AWS competitions are not eligible.

2. Categories are as follows:

Classes may be expanded or combined depending on entries.

3. A $7.00 fee per bottle will be charged for each entry. Checks are made payable to AWS-Pittsburgh.

4. Each family is limited to two (2) entries per class and each wine must be of different ingredients.

5. Wines must be 100% within their category. If the wine is a blend of Vinifera, Native and/or Hybrid, enter it in Class 4 White Blend or Class 8 Red Blend.

6. Wines entered into this competition must be free of any artificial coloring or flavoring.

7. Wines must be in standard 750ml bottles. Print all information CLEARLY on the form below. Tape the sides of the completed entry form to the bottle.

8. AWS 20 Point Evaluation Form is used. No one other than judges & stewards are permitted in judging area.

9. First, Second and Third Place Ribbons will be awarded to those wines in each class the judges deem worthy. Judges may agree to award up to two (2) ribbons for one of these three place awards when wines being considered are of equal merit.

10. One wine will be selected by the judges from the First Place winners of each class as "Best of Show." A special Pittsburgh Chapter traveling trophy will be awarded to the maker of the Best of Show Wine. The winner returns the traveling trophy the following year at the competition & receives an engraved plaque.

11. Wine for the competition should be delivered to one the following locations by Saturday, July 23, 2005.
